FIFA is the one sure-fire World Cup winner

 

The World Cup is set to generate a huge profit for Fifa, football's world governing body, potentially surpassing the $1.7b it made in 2002. It expects the tournament to attract a cumulative global television audience of 30 billion - around seven times that of the Olympics. In China alone, 50 million people are expected to watch each game even though the country failed to qualify for the World Cup. (more)

What was the longest home run ever hit?

 

According to the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) , The blast came off the bat of Babe Ruth. On October 12,1926, two days after hitting the longest home run in World Series history (a 510-footer in a 3-2 loss to St. Louis), the Babe was in Wilkes-Barre, Pa, for an exhibition game. He challenged a pitcher named Ernie Corkran to throw his fastest pitch, which Ruth, promptly launched over right field. The ball came down "well over 600 feet away", according to a SABR researcher who studied aerial photographs of the field and took on-site measurements. (more)
